Protect the Northern Angeles National Forest Forever.
One of the best kept secrets in Southern California is the magnificent canyon and mountain country north of Santa Clarita that features awesome views to Catalina Island, a segment of the famed Pacific Crest Trail, and California Condors soaring overhead. These 240,000 acres of national forest are a major wildlife corridor hub, and rich in cultural heritage as the ancestral home of the Tataviam and Chumash Peoples.
Together we can defend against threats like mining, development, highways, and habitat fragmentation while protecting ancient burial and cultural, recreation access, and open space. Our local national forest has its challenges. It has been neglected for years, with facilities closing and staffing all but gone. It needs more resources and a new management direction. Better protections for this area will better honor our history, improve recreation, and better preserve habitat for wildlife.
